Bacon Hock

£5.99

Bacon hock can be an underrated cut of meat. It has a wonderfully rich, intense taste and is great to add into dishes that are cooked over a long period of time such as soups, pies, stews and much more. When the hock is cooked, it releases the rich, salty flavour of bacon into any dish that you add it to.

You won’t need to worry about overcooking this meat. As bacon hock usually takes between 2-8 hours to become tender. You will know when it is ready because the meat will start to fall off the bone.

The bacon is chosen from the best cuts of pork loin and as with all of our bacon range, the meat is dry-cured, so there is no added water, ensuring that our bacon is served the way it should be.

  1. Our bacon hock goes beautifully in a pea and ham soup. A classic British recipe and one that is very easy to make.
  2. If you are looking to cook something new with your ham hock, try the classic German recipe of ham hock soaked in beer. Not only does the beer marinade the meat, but it also helps to tenderise the hock.
  3. If you do not want to boil your bacon hock, we recommend soaking the meat in water for roughly 12-24 hrs. This helps to reduce the salt levels in the meat
